Dave Chappelle (48) gave a benefit performance in Buffalo where ten people died last month in a racially motivated shooting in a supermarket. This is evident from messages from visitors to the show on social media.
The comedian announced the show just four days in advance but still managed to fill the theater with more than 3000 people. A spokesperson for the Shea’s Performing Arts Center told Deadline that Dave had indicated that he wanted to honor the victims and support their families.
Attendees took to social media to say that during the performance, Dave mentioned that some affected families were in the audience and that he was donating the evening’s earnings to them. The comedian himself has not publicized the action.
